What is an Assurance Plan?
Under Alberta’s Assurance Framework, all school authorities—including BTPS—must annually develop an education plan and publish an “Annual Education Results Report” (AERR). These documents illustrate performance in the following key assurance areas:
- Student Growth & Achievement
- Teaching & Leading
- Learning Supports
- Governance
- Local & Societal Context
An Assurance Plan is the action plan that outlines how DFCS will address priorities in these areas, based on data (like provincial test scores) and stakeholder input (surveys, feedback). Its purpose is to ensure transparency, continuous improvement, and responsiveness to community needs.
Why It Matters
- Transparency & accountability: Parents and community members can clearly see how schools are performing.
- Targeted improvement: Ensures efforts are data-driven—whether that means boosting literacy, enhancing learning supports, or strengthening governance.
- Consistent oversight: Alberta Education reviews each division’s AERR to make sure provincial standards are met
