DFCS Family Literacy Day – May 23

At Dr. Folkins Community School, we believe that reading is more than just a skill—it's a lifelong gift. On Friday, May 23, we are excited to invite parents and guardians into our classrooms to celebrate our second Family Literacy Day.
Families of students in grades K–6 who wish to participate are encouraged to arrive at the school by 11:15 AM and head directly to their child’s classroom. We’ll be spending about 30 minutes immersed in the joy of reading, sharing stories and making memories that strengthen the bond between home and school.
After our shared reading time, families are welcome to stay for lunch. Feel free to bring a meal and enjoy the noon hour with your son or daughter.
We know that not all parents will be able to attend—and that’s okay. Our grades 7–9 students will also be taking part, stepping into leadership roles by guiding small reading groups in our elementary classrooms. It’s a great opportunity for them to give back and support our younger learners.
We can’t wait to welcome you into our school and celebrate the power of literacy together!
